North Fork of the Payette, Top to Bottom at 8000 CFS. Extreme Whitewater Kayaking. Major credit to these world class kayakers. This river has never been run at this flow....and may never be again. : North Fork of the Payette River at 8000cfs. Top to Bottom, a 15 mile boiling grinding relentless beast at these flows. The guys wisely portaged Jacobs which would be a 50-50 proposition as to whether you would ever come out at these flows, although Tristan McClaran and James Byrd did run it at 8000cfs this last week. North Fork of the Payette River at 8000cfs. These are the highest flows in history on this river and these world class kayakers who ran the North Fork this week made whitewater history. The river may never be this high again. : Ryan Casey yellow boat white helmet, Fred Coriel green boat dark helmet, Brian Ward yellow boat red helmet, James Byrd yellow boat orange top. I did not get everyones name. Action starting at Hounds Tooth and on through Juicer and Crunch at 8000cfs. The paddlers ran it from the top but I found them at Hounds Tooth. The North Fork Championship. 30 world class kayakers take on the North Fork of the Payette River. This event was stage 2 of the 2012 Whitewater Grand Prix. (free gallery right click copy ok except for commercial use) : The North Fork Championship. 30 world class kayakers take on the North Fork of the Payette River in Idaho. Serious whitewater the flow just under 3000cfs. Dark and rainy all day, but a great turnout. The river was lined with people. These athletes put on quite a show. I think the Payette gave these guys all they could handle and it looked like they were loving every minute of it!! Sorry I don't know all their names. Please feel free to add names in the comments. Ryan Casey had two amazing runs and won the event. Tyler Bradt was right behind him in second place.

Catarafting the North Fork with Shelly Becker, photos by Mike Reid. : Shelly Becker is the first......and second woman ever to cataraft the North Fork of the Payette in Idaho near Banks top to bottom of the 15 mile stretch considered by many to one of the most challenging stretches of whitewater in the states. She was the first woman to ever run it last year and so many people told her "anybody can run it once," that she went back this year to do a "PROVE IT!!" run. I was lucky enough to photograph her first decent last year and this time I followed her all the way from the top. Shelly is the real deal!!
